The LAMP Server is a collection of software that is bundled together and will allow you to create dynamic web content, configuring your Desktop as a webserver using free Linux software has never been easier. It is termed a LAMP server which is one of the most common configuration for webservers, an acronym for ‘Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP’. If you are wanting to develop a website locally and then upload it to a hosting service or just create a local webserver that is accessed only by your local network then this is for you. With more and more complicated sites coming to the internet, you can create functional and attractive websites, you can choose LAMP which is the best technology available today. Today the internet has a large number of opportunities for creation and management of a website.
1.) Update Your System.
First thing you should do is make sure your system is up to date, this will make sure you wont run into any issues later on while installing the free and open source LAMP Stack. Enter this command followed by your root password to begin the process.
$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
2.) Install The LAMP Server.
Now you are ready to begin the installation of the LAMP Server. This is the commonly used collection of free open source software. Note: be sure to notice the ‘^’ at the end of the command.
$ sudo apt-get install lamp-server^
3.) MySQL Password.
You will be prompted to enter a NEW root password for MySQL, this should be different from your Root password used for system commands and be sure to choose a good one.
4.) Retype Password.
Enter the NEW password once again to be sure you typed it in correctly the first time. Then wait for the installation to finish.
